Description

US Heart and Vascular in needing a Business Development Manager to join our team in the Houston, TX area.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Market Development Liaison team while driving patient growth, physician onboarding, community outreach, and program development across the market. This role is responsible for directing market development initiatives that strengthen referral relationships, enhance the patient experience, and support practice growth initiatives in partnership with physicians, practice leadership, and operations. While this is a leadership and strategy-focused role, the position is expected to maintain a regular field presence, spending approximately 30% of time in the field supporting physician relationships, community outreach, referral development, and key growth initiatives.

Responsibilities & Duties

Leadership & Team Management

  • Manages, mentors, and directs the Market Development Liaison team across the market.

  • Establishes clear goals, priorities, outreach expectations, and accountability measures for liaisons.

  • Provides ongoing coaching and development to improve relationship management, referral growth, and execution.

  • Leads regular team meetings, market strategy discussions, and performance reviews.

  • Partners with leadership to identify market needs and implement market development strategies.

Physician Onboarding & Growth

  • Leads onboarding efforts for new physicians, including development and execution of 30/60/90-day growth plans.

  • Coordinates physician introductions to referral sources, hospital partners, and community organizations.

  • Works alongside physicians to identify growth opportunities, referral targets, and ancillary service opportunities.

  • Maintains an active field presence to support relationship development and physician engagement.

Program Development & Strategic Initiatives

  • Creates, implements, and oversees growth programs in partnership with practice leadership and operational teams.

  • Leads initiatives such as Executive Cardiac Physicals, screening programs, calcium score campaigns, and community wellness initiatives.

  • Collaborates with marketing, operations, and physician leadership to align outreach efforts with organizational goals.

Community Outreach & Event Execution

  • Oversees planning and execution of health fairs, screening events, patient-to-patient educational events, physician meet-and-greets, and community outreach programs.

  • Participates in select field activities and high-value relationship opportunities alongside the liaison team.

  • Develops strategic partnerships with employers, community organizations, hospital systems, and referring providers.

  • Ensures all outreach activities support patient acquisition, brand visibility, and relationship development goals.

Reporting & Market Analytics

  • Oversees monthly market reporting to operational leadership, including referral trends, patient growth, outreach activity, and program performance.

  • Utilizes available analytics and reporting tools to identify growth opportunities and areas requiring intervention.

  • Tracks KPI performance for liaisons, physician growth initiatives, ancillary utilization, and referral management effectiveness.

  • Presents market insights, strategic recommendations, and growth initiatives to leadership.

Collaboration & Operational Partnership

  • Serves as a strategic partner to physicians, practice administrators, operations leadership, and executive leadership.

  • Partners with leadership to improve referral workflows, patient access, communication strategies, and growth initiatives.

  • Works collaboratively across departments to ensure alignment between operations, marketing, and market development efforts.

Other

  • Maintains a safe workplace by following established safety protocols, reporting hazards, and participating in required safety training.

  • When position requires travel to/from other locations, ensures vehicles are operated and maintained in compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.

  • Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and theories relevant to the assigned functional area.

  • Knowledge of strategic planning principles with operational awareness.

  • Working knowledge of Office 365 programs such as Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Working knowledge of EMR systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience in healthcare market development, physician relations, or practice growth.

  • Current valid state driver’s license and required minimum auto insurance coverage.
