Description
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Lead Medical Assistant to join our team at Memorial Katy Cardiology in Katy, TX.
- Responsible for professional administration of clinical functions of assigned office. Includes responsibility for and oversight of administrative duties related to physician(s), patients and all clinical employee(s) as assigned by Office Manager and/or Division Director.
- Responsible for all clinical office scheduling; physician, patient and employee related.
- Ensures efficient function of the office through proper employee scheduling.
- Working with Office Manager accepts, considers and approves/denies clinical employee requests for PTO considering and managing proper department coverage.
- Ensures clinical employees are correctly administering time sheets, and that time submitted for payment is accurate and in compliance with Company policy.
- Oversees or performs scheduling hospital procedures/test, doing orders & precertification.
- Elevates clinical office issues and/or clinical employee concerns to appropriate party: Clinic Manager, Dir of HR, Dir of Opts, Physician, etc.
- Coordinate with Office manager any clinical supportive information needed for the CBO for timely submission of claims.
- Assist office manager with coordinating Health Fairs/Talks, and any community public relations or marketing events assigned to the clinic.
- Responsible for regular conveyance of information to/from office and Home Office, with clinic manager overseeing all communication.
- May be responsible to fulfill some or all of manager duties in the absence of Clinical Manager.
- Oversees and performs patient care procedures and related tasks; assists in the obtaining of patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
- Responsible for running Clinical reports and addressing responsible parties.
- Performs routine specialized procedures and administers medications under established protocols.
- Properly handles log, and dispenses medications, per policy.
- Assists physicians with patient care and maintains open lines of communication with physicians in regard to patient care.
- Informs patient of lab results (including PT/INR) and instructions/recommendations as per physician order.
- Inform patients of medication changes and updates patient chart as necessitated.
- Maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary.
- Performs daily inspection and review of crash cart and defibrillator checks.
- Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
- Performs and/or supply pre-operative teaching/materials with patient as necessary.
- Schedules outpatient testing and outpatient services as ordered by physician.
- Accurately and completely charts/documents patient information in the electronic medical record (EHR).
- Actively participates as liaison between patients, physicians, and hospital as necessitated.
- Writes orders as per direction of physician.
- Performs venipuncture and administers medications PO/IV/Subcutaneous as ordered by physician.
- Maintains current CPR certifications.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Travel between clinics is required.
Requirements:
- Medical Assistant Certification is required
- 1 year experience in cardiology practice or critical care unit.
- 2 or more years of supervisory experience including strong employee relations skills
- Current CPR certification
