Responsibilities

The Deputy General Counsel provides strategic legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment law, contracts, and risk management. This role serves as a key advisor to senior leadership and assists in managing the legal department’s operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide counsel on complex legal issues affecting the organization
Identify legal issues relevant to the business and proactively educate leaders on these issues
Advise senior leadership on risk mitigation and compliance strategies
Support board and committee activities, including preparation of materials and compliance with governance requirements
Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
Advise on employee relations, workplace policies, and employment disputes
Manage litigation matters, including coordination with outside counsel
Mentor legal staff and assist in departmental planning
Manage relationships with outside counsel

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active, unencumbered state license
10+ years of legal experience, including in-house counsel or law firm experience
Strong background in corporate, regulatory, and employment law
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
Leadership experience
Familiarity with risk management and compliance frameworks.
Strong business acumen and ability to partner with operational leaders.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Prior experience practicing law in a healthcare environment
