Your Role

You will be responsible for keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and aiding the department when needed. Duties includes general accounting, account reconciliations, detailed postings and clerical support tasks in the accounting department. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. You will also run accounting software programs to process business transactions, like accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, and cash posting. A successful Staff Accountant should be familiar with all accounting procedures.

Primary functions for this role

  • Processing transactions and performing month end accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries, and reconciling books of accounts.
  • In-depth consolidated balance sheet and income statement analysis.
  • Providing accounting support to various constituents (e.g., FP&A, Actuary, HR, legal).
  • Posting and reconciling tenant cash receipts.
  • Reviewing and approving accounts payable invoices.

How You Qualify

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Proven working experience as a staff accountant.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
  • Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and packaged accounting software.
  • Must be a strong team player, highly motivated, and able to work under pressure during peak periods but also perform tasks independently.
